Student Name XXX (Student No.) Title of Research Project Evaluating the Labour Shortage of China Southern Printing and Dyeing Mill Statement of Research Objectives 1. To investigate labours' job expectations and their perspective toward existing working treatment. 2. To find out the reasons of why labourers feel dissatisfied for the offered job of China Southern Printing and Dyeing Mill. 3. To validate whether some extrinsic factors can influence the labourers to choose jobs. 4. To prove whether some personal differences can affect labourers’ choices. Rationale for Undertaking the Study Southern Printing and Dyeing Mill is a medium‐size enterprise in Zhejiang province, China. The corporation was established in 1998 and its core business is to receive fabric dyeing orders from Chinese and foreign companies (Europe). After 10 years development the firm already had about 500 employees in 2008. However, as a result of the world economic crisis, the company got a recession of its business and it had to stop production and dismiss its labours gradually. Fortunately, the world economy gets some upswings in 2010 and Chinese Government also continually invests capital to stimulate the domestic demand. China Southern Printing and Dyeing Mill finally got an opportunity to return to work regularly. However, while the manager went to local human resource market and posted general advertisement to replenish manpower, he found that he could not recruit enough workers. Although the manager double increased the salary, he only got few effects.
