Reflective Essay

When writing an essay there’s many different pre writing strategies and in my last assignment I chose to experiment with three of them. And the three that I picked was free writing, brainstorming and clustering. Out of the three that I picked free writing was more effective to me because I could just jot down anything that I knew about the topic and not really having to read anything. I don’t really have to worry about the grammar or how ledge able my writing was because only I had to read it. When comparing two of the prewriting strategies I would have to say that brainstorming and free writing would be kind of similar. They both have the same concept but free writing is more like a paragraph and brainstorming is more like a list. When I used the brainstorming method I found it messier and I had to organize the information a little more. But I would have to say I still would have to choose brainstorming as my second favorite. My least favorite was clustering. I really didn’t like this prewriting strategy because it was very confusing and I was lost on how to do it. I tried my best on the clustering thing but I wouldn’t advise it to anyone based on the fact that I didn’t get how to effectively do it. Maybe I shouldn’t say it was confusing but not interesting enough because I already like the free writing method. But all in all choosing a prewriting technique is a good practice because it helps to write a great paper and helps to minimize the mistakes a person makes.
