EnviroTech and InterClean: Merger Analysis
With the upcoming merger, management acknowledges that the success of this event will be dependent on how effective the company’s teams are with incorporating employees, processes and business systems. The behavior and attitude toward this change from management throughout both companies will be analyzed by employees and will determine their attitude as well. For this reason, it is important that management remains positive and encourages cooperation from their subordinates. A positive approach from management and their staff will be key factor in the success of this merger.
In addition to pre-merger cooperation, post-merger productivity will be important. According to Galpin (2008), "integrating one business with another is inherently demanding, even for the most experienced acquirers, and the process must be managed exceedingly well if the effort is to succeed" (p. 57). For this reason, it is pertinent that processes are analyzed and combined in an effort to sustain or increase productivity. Management will play a big role in ensuring that team members, from both companies, become a cohesive team.
Communication will be imperative before, during, and after the merger. Process from the existing company will likely be improved once practices from both companies merge. It is important that management emphasize training of both companies processes in order to find the most efficient and effective method. This will not only ensure that the company’s are combining efforts, but it will also combine knowledge in every area of the business.
