Graduate Work & Becoming A Better Manager
When I started my college education I didn’t have many responsibilities, or really any responsibilities at all, besides caring for myself and my education. Now that I am a 25 year old mother of two small children I have had the opportunity to really consider what I want out of life and what I hope to accomplish my time here on earth as well as how my goals and accomplishments will affect my children as well as my community. Once I completed my undergraduate education I didn’t have the resources to actually use my degree and make an impact on the corporate world. Now that I am a little older and much more stable in all areas of my life I felt like what better way to get back into the world than continuing my education.
When I was trying to decide exactly what program to enroll in I had to ask myself a series of questions:
1. Am I passionate about this program?
2. What employment opportunities can come from attaining this degree?
3. Can I use what I learn in multiple areas of my life?
Once I answered each of those questions for myself. I didn’t really see any reason not to enroll. Being a stay at home mom I am a manager of not only my home but of my entire family and every aspect of their life. I have learned so much about the intriguing world of business and how companies function, their strategies, and business plans I couldn’t help but to continue on this journey. What I hope to accomplish by obtaining this degree is a career in the area of human resources or in the insurance industry. I also hope to gain a better understanding of current managerial styles and techniques. I also hope to learn how to be an effective and efficient manager when I enter the corporate world of business.
I believe graduate school will be very different from my undergraduate experience because I attended a traditional Catholic private college and this is my first e-learning experience. Even though it is taking some time getting...
