Frost Does Not Mean Cold

Robert Frost, on the other hand, who wrote deceptively simple works about relationships between individuals and relationships between people and nature, seemed to be much deeper and warmer at heart than his name gives him credit. Good examples of Frost’s ability to express in depth are shown in his works “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” and “The Road Not Taken.” Frost’s interpretations are incredible with how well he shows nature’s process throughout human behavior and human life as an intense replica of the environment’s simplicity.

The actions and processes that humans take are merely complex forms of Mother Nature’s cycle and her train of thought which is why it is called human nature. Many of Frost’s writings run parallel to one another with the simple concept of how nature can rule or at least influence all. In “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” Frost describes the woods as lovely, dark and deep. He gives the woods imagery of mystery or wonder and makes it seem as though the speaker has thought about what has gone on in the woods many times before. The speaker stops by the woods though he appears to be in tremendously harsh conditions because of the snow and temperature and the fact that he has many miles yet to travel. The traveler would much rather take a journey into these woods than to finish his mission. When read, a sense of regret comes over the reader because this mysterious path was not taken. This directly relates to life and the choices that humans make. Many opportunities and choices are placed in the pathway of citizens, and many times they will simply ignore these opportunities and choices, and continue on their carbon copy days, executing their normal protocol without even considering going down the path of the unknown.
