Heroin is a very strong addictive drug that gives you strong feelings and makes you feel very relaxed. It makes really forget about all the things that may have been bothering you for that moment that you are using it. It also slows your breathing down and it causes other high risks of a lot of major infectious diseases. It is made from morphine and usually appears as a white or brown powder or as a black, sticky substance. You can inject it, snort it, or smoke it. The role substance abuse prevention programs play in the communities is to help gain a big understanding of mental and substance abuse use disorders. This is done to get as many people as they can to not abuse drugs and help to prevent substance abuse all together. It is also to help people recognize mental and substance use disorders and get some help with the same urgency as any other health conditions; and make recovery the expectation. If this is done in the community, then the word will get around to everyone within the community and the chances are slimmer that someone will be a substance abuser if they are more aware of what they were getting into in terms of harming their health.
The SAMSHA support community groups and faith-based organizations that provide substance abuse programs by providing training and technical assistance as well as publications and web resources. Grants are also provided for these organizations.
There is a very high percentage rate of seniors in high school say that they have used drugs at least once before in their life. There is a high rate for prescription drug abuse amongst high school students. Many of them say that they actually use the non-medical use of the painkillers such as Vicodin.
