I would have to say in my current career, psychology really doesn’t fit with what I do. Except for maybe when I think the people I work with are old and senile and need to retire at times. But, as far as my future career goals go, I think it could very well fit in with the direction I want to go with my career goals.

Eventually, I would like to get a position in the human resources department of a company that could eventually lead to a management position within that company. Even in conversations recently, I’ve thought back to how they relate to some of the topics we have covered in these eight weeks. In the human resource field I think knowing what makes people tick can help when you are dealing with problems amongst employees.

If you have an employee that consistently exhibits the same problematic behavior, a person could think back to some of the various topics and disorders we studied and the certain traits that accompany those disorders, and determine if it might be in that employees best interests to refer them to either a medical doctor or perhaps a counselor or psychiatrist.

I would have loved to go into the career field of counseling had I finished my college career years ago instead of waiting 19 years to finish. Now I need to just concentrate on providing the best life possible for my son. He’s getting awful tired of me always doing homework.

I also think taking this class has been a great eye opener to all the problems out in our world and how people don’t have these disorders by choice and it’s saddening that these problems have to exist at all. I just hope I never have to deal with them in my lifetime again as I at one time had dated a man that was diagnosed bipolar and I don’t prefer to ever go through that again.
