Abstract
The issue of diversity is now considered important and is projected to become even more important in the future due to people that no longer live or work in an undesirable marketplace; they are now part of a worldwide economy with competition coming from nearly every continent. For this reason, profit and non-profit organizations need diversity to become more creative and open to change. Maximizing and capitalizing on workplace diversity has become an important issue for management today. This paper is based off an article that I got out of the Time Magazine. It’s going to provide a general definition for “diversity”, address the diversity represented in the American landscape, describe how the media rely on stereotypes when depicting a certain group, and assess whether or not I believe that my selected article fostered a better understanding of diversity and multiculturalism.

This article was talking about how supervisors and front-line managers are the targeted audience because they need to recognize the ways in which the workplace is changing, evolving, and diversifying. Since managing diversity remains a significant organizational challenge, managers must learn the managerial skills needed in a multicultural work environment. Supervisors and managers should always be prepared to tech themselves and others within their organizations to value multicultural differences in both associates and customers so that everyone is treated with dignity.
Diversity is beneficial to both associates and employers. Although associates are interdependent in the workplace, respecting individual differences can increase productivity.
