A young man stepped out from a car and let himself through the gates of a musky old house. He knocked once and saw a shadow move behind the lace curtains.

“It’s me” The man said, keeping his voice low.

The door opened just wide enough to let him pass.

“Were you followed?” the young man was asked by the shadow.

The young man shook his head. “Good. Have you kept the treasure safe? It will be trouble if the treasure is found by them. They’ll be able to do what they want, and we’ll lose.”

Again, the he shook his head, “I won’t let the treasure fall into the wrong hands.”

He was cut off by a menacing glare from the shadow. “Tremendous. I know this is a big responsibility for someone like you, but He trusts you-all of us do.”

The two men watched each other, until the young man finally nods. The shadow stood up from where it was sitting. “Go. Keep it safe. Go somewhere far. Someplace no one will ever find. Hide or run, if you must.”

He’d only made it half a block when he heard a glass chattering noisily from the house. Without thinking, he ran in a dead sprint toward the house. He was about to break the door open when arguing voices cause him to stop.

“Last chance,” said a smooth, calm voice. The man was sure to whose voice it belonged to.

“Go back to where you belong, Amon.”

Another sound of shattering glass, but there was nothing thrown to break it. No gunshot or rocks, the glass just simply cracked into pieces and silence followed. Heart hammering, the man knew he had to act. If he didn’t move now, it would be too late, his friend would be killed. He moved toward the shattered window, careful not to be seen by Amon. The man saw his friend, already injured with blood flowing on one side of his arm, beyond Amon. He grabbed a crystalline knife from his back but when he made eye contact, his friend’s expression filled with alarm.

Go! Don’t show yourself! Or else what we’ve worked hard for will be reduced to ashes!
