Background of Smartphone

It is three years since Apple leads the smartphone mass market. Smartphones actually has been used since 1993, in one form or another. The difference between then and now is that the smartphones early for business equipment, the price is very expensive for most consumers. Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) came in 1990, together with Apple Newton (1992) and Pocket PC (1996). At present, the instrument is very basic, relative to today’s products, especially the calendar and address book. However, with the huge success of the iPhone, the carrier has been found; they can lock in customers, for a long period of time for a large subsidy to buy a new smartphone and the most popular. The mobile operating system (OS) used by modern smartphones include Google's Android, Apple's iOS, Nokia's Symbian, and RIM's BlackBerry OS.

1.1 Functions of Smartphone

The first of the basic functions of a smartphone is the ability access to the internet but not only receive calls, text messages and voice mail. Most of the smartphones have a built-in browser, it is a proprietary mobile handset manufacturers. Another essential function of the smartphones is able to access digital media. This means that users can be loaded into the mobile music, video and images, and be able to enjoy all the media while on the go. Digital media devices have been around for many years. Combining the functions of these devices, consumers now have less stuff to carry around, spend less investment in technology, and more equipment to be able to access, share, and utilize their digital media all from one easy-to-use interface. The most important function is the use of a small computer programs known as applications (apps). The application can perform a variety of functions for the users.
