Week One Assignment – Healthcare Interview Summary

In this healthcare interview summary you will learn about the importance of in home healthcare for special needs patients. This type of service is usually provided to a patient through a public or private organization, which would provide experienced nursing services, such as physical therapy, home health aide skilled nurses or providers, and medical social services to the patient. The agency or organization in most cases is run by a licensed physician or registered nurse.

On Wednesday, February 20, 2013, an interview was conducted with the Director/Nursing Supervisor Mrs. Jackie Hutson, of Lynn In-Home Health Services, located at 12912 New Hallsferry Rd. in St. Louis, MO. In our interview she explains the importance of professionally licensed home healthcare services and the eligibility requirements of home healthcare in the privacy of the patient’s home. Mrs. Hutson stated, that home health care services is similar to long-term care services for the patient, but it gives a more personal and private setting in the patient’s home oppose to being treated or cared for within a long-term care facility.

The cost for home health services is covered for any patient that is receiving Medicare and that meet all the conditions of being under a doctor’s care that includes a prepared plan of care, which is viewed regularly by that specific doctor. The doctor also has to certify that the patient has a condition that will improve over a period of time, the patient is in need of a professional therapist that will conduct and maintain an effective plan for the patient’s condition, or if the patient is in need of the professional therapy that is safe and effectively maintained by that therapist for their condition to improve.
