Health Insurance Cost Versus Privacy

It is not a surprise that employers are trying to manage the level of health care cost. Employers can offer wellness programs into their employee insurance plans as a way help manage the cost. Wellness programs can include nutrition programs, health care testing, flu shots, and smoking programs. However, Computers by Design (CBD) is taking the wrong approach and are violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by requesting employees to take a medical examination or questioning employees; concerning whether an individual has a disability unless the exam or questioning is job-related and reliable with the business needs (Bressler, 2012). Working in an organization that took part in a wellness program including biometrics screenings and health questionnaires helped employees find ways to improve his or her eating and living circumstances.

Unions

Collective bargaining has become a major part of businesses in the local area because companies are decreasing pay and increase the cost of benefits. Northern Tool is a manufacturing company that was attempting to cut pay and demand more overtime. Employees began the process of collective bargaining because their concerns were overlooked. In conclusion the company’s decision was to operate without collective bargaining or unions and meet the needs of the employees. When the employees were on strike, under the National Labor Relations Act prohibits employers to stop, hold back, or intimidate employees while exercising his or her rights to form, organize, join, or assist a labor organization for collective bargaining (Employer/union Rights And Obligations, 2013. Some companies prefer to close or began operating overseas before taking part in collective bargaining or unions.
