Answer the following questions in at least 100 words. The answers are found in Ch. 1–4 of Environmental Science.

1. What would you include in a brief summary on the history of the environmental movement?

There are several factors that affect our environment we live in and we should be conscious of this because if we don’t we might regret it later on in our lives. One is population growth, famine and food crisis, sustainable resources; protecting the environments ecosystem by not exceeding resource production, recognize that civilization can change the environment at a global level. “We have made significant progress in many areas of the environment although our scientific understanding of the environment still lags behind our need to know. We have also begun to create legal frameworks for managing the environment to address environmental issues. The time is now ripe to seek truly lasting with more rational solutions to the environmental problems. Precautionary principle says that when there is a threat of serious, perhaps even irreversible, environmental damage, we should not wait for scientific proof before taking precautionary steps to prevent potential harm to the environment (Botkin).”

2. Explain the main point concerning exponential growth and whether it is good or bad. Compare exponential growth to a logistic growth curve and explain how these might apply to human population growth. What promotes exponential growth? What constrains population growth?
