One has just received new information and wants to put it out to others quickly. One may choose to give a presentation to his or her colleagues in order to deliver the information. When this option is choosen there are several factors that one should look into prior to giving the presentation. This info will ensure that the presentation has substance to it and that it will be delivered properly.

When one is called on to deliver a presentation, it is a great deal of importance for the presenter to keep in mind who is his or her audience. The audience is normally a mixture of different personalities. With this fact at hand it is important for one to know which persons In the audience will be his or her main focal points, throughout the presentation. Even though the presenter knows that the audience is made up with individuals with different levels of interest in the presentation, it is critical for one to determine who will be mostly affected by his or her presentation.

While determining the main focal points of the audience, the presenter must keep several facts in mind when preparing for the presentation. The presenter must understand that different individuals have different norms, meaning different ways of doing things. While considering this fact the presenter must also remember that throughout the audience there can and will be different cultures and different races within. Therefore certain body language must be avoided, because different gestures have different meaning with different cultures and races. “Nonverbal signals can be misinterpreted just as easily as can verbal symbols (words)” (locker & Kienzler, 2008).
