Case Study: Can Research Rescue the Red Cross
Discussions Questions:
1. If you had been McLaughlin or Decker, what research would you want done?
I would want research done on these topics: How to handle natural/catastrophic disasters in the first week (7days). Disasters like Hurricane Sandy/Katrina, September 11th, and Tsunamis or any other disasters that take place. This will help with the frustration among the American population who have/had felt helplessness to respond in a timely manner during these times of horrific tragedies.
2. Create the management-research question hierarchy for the research you think might help the Red Cross make decisions related to public relation efforts and future advertising soliciting donations.
Management Questions
* How can we produce the proper advertising structure for donors by sticking to Red Cross Guidelines?
* How can we upsurge the initial response efforts efficiently?
Research Questions
* What advertising exist now and how effective are they?
* How can management eradicate the undesirable effects of the distribution of fund distributions?
* Should we evaluate the pros and cons of older and present advertising campaigns?
* Should we re-examine how the Red Cross handled and responded to Hurricane Katrina, September 11th, etc.
Measurement Questions
* Research and examine thoroughly the different types of advertising campaigns that deal with catastrophic disasters.
3. If you created an RFP, what would it contain?
The RFP I think in this case I would give would be an Experience Survey to give to the donors. I feel strongly that this will become profitable by collecting information from the people experienced in this area of study. I would also make a point to include the overall rich history of the Red Cross Nationwide as well as globally.
