Introduction

Workplace ethics are codes of conduct that govern the behavior of employees and employers within the workplace (Johnson, 2007). They are instrumental in maintaining strong working relations between employers and employees by inspiring communication between the two parties. They relate to decision-making processes and help employers and employees to adhere to all applicable laws and regulations and avoid conflicts. Business ethics is the main influence on workplace ethics. For example, it is unethical to create advertisements that give false information about just because the consumers have no way of verifying the information. An organization with meritorious workplace ethics would also build support networks such as wellness programs for its employees. These make the employees take pride in their work and, therefore, work harder (Johnson, 2007). Through research, it is evident that employee are more likely to report cases of misconduct to the management if both the supervisors and their coworkers engage in ethical behavior. Every organization should have exceptional workplace ethics, but not all organizations have them with PharmaCARE as a good example. Through its conduct, PharmaCARE demonstrated that it had limited or no workplace ethics which are necessary for the smooth running of an organization.

Stakeholders:

A stakeholder is a party who has an interest in an enterprise/business. As with any other company, PharmaCARE has an inherent responsibility to its stakeholders (Werther, 2010). Pharmaceutical companies have many stakeholders because of the nature of their products. The stakeholders in this case are the numerous: patients who bought the Alzheimer’s drug, their families, the management, the government, pharmacists, nurses, psychologists, activists, the general public, the competing companies and suppliers.
