In life we face all sort of things, events that contribute to who we are and what type of society we all live in today. Within this society we are thrown with questions and unanswered questions that we ask about the realism of our modern day society. Through literature we can see

Often we find the modern existence distressing and it is our reluctance to face the harshness and brutality of a meaningless life that can lead us to discover previously undiscovered truth.

In today’s society there are many things, events that show and teach the world to be or not to be, what is real, what isn’t real. Within the modern day society there are questions and unanswered questions that are asked about life, how to grow, change and adapt to these new ways of life. Often people can find the modern life difficult and distressing and we are reluctant and hesitant to face the harshness and brutality of a life that is meaningless which can lead to us to discover previously undiscovered truth. By opening our eyes through literature we grow and learn to face and explore life and not be afraid to discover the truth. The poems Preludes and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock written by T.S Eliot and the film Life Of Pi by Ang Lee show how in life we are affected by literature as it teaches each individual how life is a lesson in discovery. In the three texts are themes: loneliness and isolation, modern life and survival.

Having different views and opinions on life as to someone else can lead to isolation and loneliness between not only the world and fact of life but also distance between the human lives. Through literature we discover that because of changes and not wanting to face these realities, it can result into loneliness and isolation from the rest of the world.
