Activity 2 - Identify the five key stages in the research process - Analyze and Present Research Information.

The five key stages in the research process are as follow:

1. 1. Problem definition

To define the type of problem faced by an organization, it starts the research process by doing an exploratory research involving literature search or initial interviews with experts.

1. 2. Research method

1. a. Quantitative research

This research method uses specific standardized measures to collect data, which findings can be expressed numerically that allows statistical manipulation of the data collected to find the representation of the total sampling population. Quantitative research is generally used in descriptive and causal research designs that use survey methods to collect data.

1. b. Qualitative research

This research method obtains data from a relatively small group of respondents and not analyzed with statistical techniques. Qualitative research is generally used in exploratory research in defining problems through focus groups and interviews.

1. 3. Data collection method

There are three main data collection methods, survey, observation and experiment. The choice of data collection method will depend on the type of research being conducted, as shown in below table, to gain the best result to fulfill the objectives.
