Microsoft Corporation develops, manufactures, and licenses, a variety of software products and services. These products are designed for different types of computing devices and businesses. The Company maintains five major business divisions: client, server/tools, online Services Business, Microsoft Business division, and Entertainment division (Microsoft, 2002).

The company has built its business on products and services that include operating systems for servers, personal computers, and intelligent devices and software applications for distributed computing environments. The Company also provides consulting, support services, and trains and certifies computer system integrators and developers. Microsoft also designs and sells computer hardware, including Xbox 360 video game console, Zune digital music devices, and entertainment peripherals (Microsoft, 2002). Microsoft has stayed in the lead of most of its competitors as a result of creating positive impact on customers when introducing technology to the market.

Because of the diverse clientele that Microsoft serves, the impact of introducing new technologies can and has had world changing affect. Microsoft was the innovator of mouse and graphic interface for computing. By inventing this form graphical user interface users were now able to function in a simpler computing environment that contrasted the text command interface that had existed (Romano, 2008). The introduction of this new technology would save customers time and create new standards for data input efficiency. Windows was born!
