INTRODUCTION

Public relations according to Lambs et al (1992) is addressed to be a marketing function that executes a program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance. It can also be referred to as a management function that creates, develops and carries out policies and programs to influence public opinion or public reaction about an idea, a product or an organization. The PR officer of ADC airlines needs to design a plan which will gain the confidence of their customers who declined from patronizing them due to the air clash they experienced in 2006.

HISTORY OF ADC AIRLINES

ADC airlines which is owned and operated by the Aviation Development Company Plc started operations in January, 1991. Three years later precisely in 1994, it was listed in the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The airline saw the need for recapitalization and in 2000 it successfully did so. In February 2002, the airline acquired a Boeing 737-200.

Meanwhile, ADC airlines head office is situated at Ikeja in Lagos state, Nigeria from where it covers six destinations in Nigeria namely; Abuja, Calabar, Kaduna, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Yola. It also operate regional charter flights from it’s main base in Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos to Accra, Banjul, Conakry, Freetown and Monrovia.
