Facebook/Twitter Argument

The world that we live in today is far different than what it was in years past. Also, our methods of communicating with one another have changed so drastically in the last two decades or so. Prior to this, our means of communications were primarily limited to: landline telephones, 2-way radios, and pagers. Then, came “bag phones”, and eventually, cell phones, which have evolved into smartphones. In addition, we have computers with Internet capability that offer social media networks, such as: Email, Text messaging, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Google +, and Skype.

Facebook and Twitter are the two largest trending social media networks on the Internet, and often people will argue which one is the best, but it really depends on the individual. My personal opinion is that I prefer Facebook over Twitter, although I have both of them. Some of the reasons that I have chosen Facebook over Twitter are: it has a larger user base, it is not limited to 140 characters for status updates and they can be as long as you want, you can send direct Facebook mail to all of your friends at once, Facebook provides detailed insights on the users of your page, and it allows you to post multiple photos.

Twitter is not a bad social media network, but it is geared more toward those who are text message savvy. It is more interactive than Facebook, as you consistently make status posts rather than long and lengthy messages. Twitter uses a short form of status updates called “Tweets”, but one big disadvantage is that they are limited to 140 characters per Tweet. Several more disadvantages are: you are unsure of how much your tweets are being read, tweets appear only for a short moment in time, and then they quickly disappear in a user’s Twitter feed, direct messages can only be sent to one user at a time, they have a smaller user base, you are not able to post videos, yet you can add links to YouTube videos, and you can only post links to one photo at a...
