INTRODUCTION
An instruction
An instruction is a statement that describes how to do something, an order or command; the action or process of teaching.
It is also the act or practice of instructing or teaching; education, knowledge or information imparted.
WHAT THEN IS INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION?
Individualized instruction is an instructional method that personalizes the instruction to the needs and learning style of the learner.
This is done by varying the pace of instruction, the method of learning employed and the content to be learned. Individualized instruction is not the same as one to one instruction. It is simply varying the process to meet the needs of each individual learner in the group.
Individualized instruction consists of any steps taken in planning and conducting programs of studies and lessons that suit them to the individual student’s learning needs, learning readiness, and learner characteristics or learning style”.
Learning needs can be identified with the grade level curriculum or they can be seen as reflecting individual experiences and interest.
ANOTHER DEFINITION OF INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION
It refers to those classroom practices of teaching which recognize the uniqueness of each student learner and thus provide for adequate tutorial guidance, and other support services suited to bring and a whole some development in the person (mind, body and spirit).
