Microsoft Office is a program with five useful applications. The applications in Microsoft Office are: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The first of the applications to be discussed is Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word is a word processing program that allows the user to create many different types of documents, and revise them easily. Some common errors in Microsoft Word are as follows: paper is incorrectly formatted, header, and footer are not where they need to be, document is not saving to the correct folder, page number is not displayed, and difficulty inserting a table. Microsoft Word makes formatting a paper easy. Margins, line spacing, and font and font size can be easily modified to fit the needs of the user. This can easily be done under the Home tab and choosing the formatting options needed. Headers and footers can be set up in different ways. For instance, the first page can have a header, and the other pages can be different, or the user can designate a header for certain pages, and then another header for another set of pages. This can be done under the Insert tab and choosing from the many options listed on the drop down menu for Header, Footer, and Page Number. The page number is also formatted from the Insert tab. The user can choose where to place the page number from the drop down menu. To save the document, the user simply has to click on the Save As button and choose where the document will go to be saved. When a user wishes to insert a table into the Word document, they can simply go to the Insert tab and click on the Table drop down menu.
