Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper in which you analyze a current or past relationship and create a strategy for managing it.

Note: The biggest mistake students make on this paper is to tell a story of their relationship. The assignment asks you to analyze a relationship using course theory, not tell a story. Outline your paper to stay on track!

Explain the basic facts of the relationship by answering the following questions:

With whom do you have the relationship?

How long have you known this person?

At what developmental stage is the relationship (Beebe, 264-267)?

How did the relationship develop / move through stages (Beebe, 264-267)?

Explain at least one factor that led to short-term attraction and at least one that led to long-term attraction (Beebe, 260-262).

Identify which type of power relationship you have (Beebe, 259) and what types of power are commonly exercised.

Explain the importance of attraction and power in the relationship (Beebe Chapter 9, Chapter 11).

Identify at least one area involving interpersonal communication in which the relationship may be improved. DO NOT CHOOSE "COMMUNICATION" generally - it is too broad.

Develop a strategy to manage the area(s) you have identified as needing improvement using two or more relationship management skills (Beebe, 334-339).

Explain how you may use each skill in your strategy to address the challenge and how you may escalate, maintain, or decrease intimacy.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.
