As a person in a high position in corporate America, I had to overcome my bashfulness and learn how to communicate effectively face-to-face as well as online. There are different ways to communicate face-to-face and online as well. However, one must be careful as to how they communicate in both aspects as they could lead to the opposite of the point that one is trying to make. There is effective verbal face-to-face communication, body gesture communication, informal/formal communication of which all play an important role in communication.

There are three types of communication identities social identity, cultural identity, and gender identity that need to be applied in every aspect of communication. However, cultural and gender identity are the two that need to be addressed accordingly or things could turn out in the wrong way. Social identity is where you use the community or the area to get the type of vibe you need to flow with when communication. For instance, I would not communicate with a group of internet fans if I was against internet users.

Face-to-Face communication skills is the most effective and accurate way of getting a point across without any misunderstandings. The appearances and body gestures play an important role in communication. Here are two scenarios to support the truth that appearances and body gestures play important roles in communication. Two people are communicating with a grant writer about funding for their charity dressed informal in casual blue jeans, tennis shoes, and t-shirts. There are two other people doing the exact same thing but are dressed formal in slacks, button shirts, and ties.
