Part 1:

1.) Technology automates manual processes. Instead of hand writing and mailing, employees are able to create e-mails and send them electronically. One example could be used with airlines. Airlines use the technology for booking tickets, redeeming vouchers, and keeping track of airline points built up from repeat customers.

2.) Internet: Allows companies to interact with the public. It also supports the online sales of product and giveaways.

Intranet: Allows the company to interact within its own organization. These interactions would include training systems or product support knowledge bases.

3.) Extranet: Organizations use these to communicate with other organizations or partner groups. These aid in managing projects, accounts, and provide technical support.

Part 2:

1.) A: Forgetting to save your work before shutting down an application or losing power to the system could result in data loss.

B: Save your work frequently and enable auto-save features to avoid accidental data loss.

2.) A: A computer may malfunction and accidentally erase data or you may accidentally over write an original copy.

B: Try to remember to make a backup file for all important work that could possibly become lost or damaged. Update the file often so that it has all of the newest information.

3.) A: If you store the original and the back up in the same location, then the chances of them getting either damaged or lost is greater.

B: Keep the files in separate locations, separate servers, or separate computers depending on the type of information.
