Course (Catalog) Description:
This course is designed to give the prospective manager a foundation in CIS to understand and use information systems at the personal and organizational levels. Students will learn about Information Technology as they are applied in organizations to achieve strategic goals. Current topics such as global project management will be introduced. Students will also acquire some specific IT skills, such as creating high-quality online presentations and utilizing spreadsheets.
Course Objectives:
• To introduce the role of Computer Information Systems in business administration
• To provide insights regarding the management of Computer Information Systems for achieving organizational strategy goals
• To familiarize with current and emerging trends in IT applications for business administration
• To encourage critical thinking regarding all of the above within specific managerial contexts
Course Format:
As part of the flagship MBA program, this course will aim to provide a rich learning atmosphere to help achieve the stated objectives.
• Classroom sessions will comprise discussions and presentations, facilitated by the instructor and frequently led by student groups
• Assignments will typically involve analysis of case studies and/or research outside of classrooms
