Problem or Issue Investigation and Solution

When looking deeper into a problem within a relationship, I generally have to take into consideration all of the pro's and con's of the situation. Weighing all of my options, and making sure that I am making the wisest of decisions, as I definitely do not want to jump into anything too reckless or half thought out, and end up regretting my decision. To avoid this as best as possible, I would investigate all of my options until I have come to the best resolution for my present situation.

In the situation I discussed in last week's assignment, where I had been dating a man I had known for quite some time that I soon found to be someone I did not really know after all, or did not care for some of his habits I had quickly discovered. To determine my best way to handle the problem and better the situation was to look at all of the options and directions I had. I did not want to just call it quits without looking into it more and seeing if it was something we could eventually work out. The majority of the little issues that I had, things like staying up until all hours of the night because he could not sleep, poor cleanliness habits for the house as well as for himself, chain smoking habits, and a few others; were something that I could get past or deal with. The only habit I had the hardest time with was his use of marijuana.

At first, I sat him down and asked him directly if this was something he needed or had to have in his life. He told me that he did not need to have or have to have it, but he wanted to have it as he was convinced that it was helping him to rid himself of the migraines he so frequently experienced. He tried to offer ways of appeasing and accommodating me, by offering to not do it in front of me, or around me. But even that did not seem to make much of a difference.
