1. Executive summary

a. Describe the Organization or Organization unit.

The Organisation that will be the focus of this paper is Ross University School of Medicine a part of the Devry Family of schools. The University was founded in 1978 by Robert Ross and in 2003 was bought, and brought over into the Devry family. It is located in Portsmouth, the second town of the Caribbean island, Dominica. The university confers upon its graduates the Doctor of Medicine degree. Taking it one step further I will also be focusing my attentions on one department that is the Audio Visual Department (A/V Department), off which I am currently a part of. The audio visual department has risen from the smallest to one of the most important parts of the Ross university team. Its responsibilities are as the name suggests to support and supply all the audio and visual need of the entire campus community. This includes filming lecture and posting up on the company website, troubleshooting any and all technical problems that may arise within the classroom, filming editing and reproducing videos of various company and student lead events and lots more. At present the departments consists of 12 individuals comprising of 1 supervisor, 6 senior technicians (all with specialized roles) and 5 junior technicians 4 with specific classrooms to man and 1 floating.

b. Identify the situation, issues, or problems that lead to the change. Include mention of such factors as where the organization was in its life cycle, environmental issues driving the change, etc.

The situation at hand is one that is not all too unfamiliar in the world of business, a changing of the guard so to speak. The situation began in 2003 when the founder of the company decided to sell the company over to Devry incorporated.
