Islam Religion

The Islam religion has been around for centuries and is followed by millions of people. It is the second largest religion followed in the world; second only to Christianity, which consists of multiple denominations. It is believed that sometime in the future Islam will surpass Christianity and become the largest followed religion in the world. While Islam has been around for centuries, it was not widely followed until after the death of the prophet Muhammad in 632 A.D. How does the Islam religion compare to other religions? What is it really about? Islam is a peaceful religion that believes in but one God, Allah and follows the Holy Qur’an. Islam is a religion unlike many others, but it is also very similar at the same time. To fully understand the Islam religion, one must understand the concepts of the religion.

With this in mind, let’s take a closer look some of individuals responsible for the reawakening of the Islam religion. It is generally believed that the prophet Muhammad is the founder the Islam religion, but in truth this is not correct. The Islam religion began long before Muhammad ever walked the earth (All About Religion, 2007). Islam goes all the way back to the time of Abraham. Abraham is known in both the Christian and Islam religions, but his story is a bit different. The Holy Qur’an, the sacred book of Islam, states that Abraham, along with his son Ismael built the holiest sanctuary in the Islam religion, the Ka’bah (Living Religions, 2007). The location where the Ka’bah was built is believed to be where Adam first worshipped (Living Religions, 2007). For a very long time (hundreds of years to be exact) the Ka’bah was ignored by most people because according to Islamic tradition it sank into oblivion due to people’s rejection of Abraham’s monotheism (Living Religions, 2007).
