The Ohio Board of Nursing purpose is to actively safeguard the health of the public through effective regulation of nursing care. The services performed examination, refresher courses, educational program dialysis technician training program, Registered Nurse, and License Practical Nurse State Licensure and Renewal and Medication Aides training, Discipline and Compliance programs and Law and Rules of nursing.
The Ohio State Board of Nursing maintains a level of integrity through professionalism, through an established code of nursing practice. Any member who violates the code of ethics risks having his or her license withdrawn.
The agency supports County Government programs, Public Health programs, State Government programs, and Mental Health agencies. Education programs must be timely and effective, including ensuring that new and established nursing education programs meet and maintain minimum theory, laboratory, clinical, supervision, faculty qualifications, and outcome standards.
Licensure for the State of Ohio takes about 6 to 8 weeks to process. Applicant must provide a photograph which needs to be less than 12 months old also submit payment of seventy-five dollars non-refundable fee to the Treasurer of Ohio. Required documentation from the nursing program signed and sealed transcript in the form of a diploma, certificate, or degree and completion date must be included. The certification requirement in the State of Ohio Board of nursing is to complete twenty-four hours of continuing education classes.
