WHY I WANT A CAREER AS A LAW ENFORCER
The flashing red lights and the screeching howling of the sirens are impressive sounds that have always demanded attention. Or is it the fact police officers are allowed to carry guns and have the ability when needed to race through a red light or take a difficult situation and give it a sense of meaning. But as I grew up I realized that I wanted to make a difference in society. I wanted to feel a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in the things that I do. Initially, I thought teaching and passing on knowledge to students would fulfill that desire but now I have a greater desire to help protect people. There is a great need to protect our citizens, the innocent, from danger. Any job has relative challenges but with law enforcement the rigorous task and hurdles are constantly revolving. It is fascinating and requires both mental and physical training. Being a part of law enforcement is being a protector of rights that this country was founded on. It requires patience, and an opportunity to improve and enhance leadership skills. The Carroll County and Technology Center will give me the opportunity to train and further my education, but more importantly create relationships and comrades in this ever-changing field. The profession is revolved around danger; we have to accept the fact that we can only rely on the people around us. It is the one important fact that holds every law enforcer together. Law enforcement is not a symbol for power, but one of peace and justice. Law enforcers are heroes to me. I want to continue the legacy of those before me.
