Organization Description:

The organization being reviewed is from here on refered to as Local XYZ with its parent organization being XYZ International.

XYZ International is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) that builds partnerships that create opportunity, foster understanding, and solve real-life problems. The XYZ International network is comprised of volunteers and development professionals who are committed to serving others. These partnerships are built around the core structure of chapters in countries and states that form north/south partnerships. In addition, these chapters form inter-institutional partnerships between northern and southern universities, development agencies and civic organizations. Inspired by a former U.S. President, XYZ International is a non-profit, non-partisan organization with international offices in Washington, DC.

XYZ International has grown from an organization that sent seeds to farmers in Bolivia to one that carries out multi-year projects with lasting impact on communities. Today, their work covers areas as diverse as agriculture, cultural and educational exchange, domestic violence prevention, social inclusion and youth. Each year, their projects and activities touch the lives of more than 200,000 people in the Western Hemisphere. While much of their endeavours are supported with federal funds, their efforts would not be possible without the generous contributions of individuals, corporations and foundations that recognize the value of strengthening alliances between the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean.

The Local XYZ chapter is based in Kingston, Jamaica and has been established since 1981. In their 31 year existence the chapter has steadily enacted the XYZ mission and vision. However, this was done quite subtly and as a result the Jamaican membership base and respective brand equity has been minimal here in Jamaica.
