Riordan Manufacturing HRIS Integration

Riordan Manufacturing is an industry leader in plastics manufacturing with yearly projected earnings of $46 million (Apollo Group, Inc., 2006). Its products range from bottles, medical supplies, aircraft and automotive parts to high-end custom applications for the United States Department of Defense. Riordan has manufacturing plants in Pontiac, Michigan, and Albany, Georgia, and a research and development center at the corporate headquarters in San Jose, California, combined with the recent acquisition of a plant in Hangzhou, China.

This rapid expansion is not without its costs, however. Such disparate and dispersed processes naturally lead to inconsistencies in corporate infrastructure. In keeping with the company's focus on Six Sigma strategy, Riordan must improve the flow of operations by seeking better product quality, minimizing variability in manufacturing business processes (iSixSigma, 2010). Upon receiving the SR-RM-022 Service Request, this report will initially conduct investigations and research on Riordan Manufacturing Human Resources Information System to identify current practices and possible areas of improvement.

Service Request SR-RM-022: Analyze HR System

Riordan COO, Hugh McCauley submitted Service Request SR-RM-022 to UoP Solutions. The request is to analyze the current Human Resources Information System (HRIS) of Riordan Manufacturing and be able to provide a solution that will incorporate the existing system and subsystems into a single integrated application from a more sophisticated and modern technology. According to the SR-RM-022 Service Request sent to UoP Solutions, the integration is required within six months. The background information provided in the request will allow UoP Solutions to analyze the purpose of the request, time frame, and budget in which the integration project will be conducted.
