Introduction

The system of business is a crucial part that can cost as much as the company itself. It counts every single thing that the company produces, process and revenues. Failure of the system will affect all the company’s data process and it will affect the revenue of the company as it cost a lot to recover the data.

One way to prevent the system crashes and failures is to do backup data and recovery. A backup is the same data as original system information and restore is a process to get system replaced by the backup data so that the system will run smoothly.

The backup software that we use is Time Machine. Time machine is default backup program provided by Macintosh that is available in every Mac devices (Mac 10.x Leopard and above). The advantages of using time machine:

a) Easy to use and to understand

b) Runs automatically (you can set the schedule backup time)

c) Restore entire disk

d) Time Machine will not backup all data every time it runs. It will only backup data that has been changed from the initial backup that will require less time.

On the other hand, Time Machine has some disadvantages:

1. Need bigger space of Hard Disk. Time Machine will not compress all the files that make more space required.

2. Less option. Using Time Machine only give you an option to back up entire files. So it is hard to do some complicated backup (for example: if you want only several folder to be backed up).

3. Hard Disk only. The time machine never gives option to use optical disc ( DVD / CD ) to be the backup database.
