Business Plan: Part 1

Why Me?

I posses many qualities and skills that will help me run a profitable photography studio in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. I can prove to you that I can differentiate myself from all other photographers who want to open up a studio and my keys to success will be location, experience, and knowledge.

As early as the fourth grade I started to take photography classes in school as my chosen elective. My grammar school, Brooklyn Heights Montessori, had its own dark room within the building. This gave me the ability to learn how to develop my own photos from a 125 mm camera as early as age nine. I learned about the different chemicals used like the developer, stop bath and the fixer. I learned how to clean the negatives, use all the equipment in the darkroom and clean and dry the photos when they are done so there are no spots or damage. I have built up the skill of precision because I have had so much practice from all four years of photography classes. I learned how to develop color and black and white photographs.

In the 6th grade, a parent, Cheryl Cippriani, a book designer, loved my photographs so much that she got in contact with a friend who was the owner of the Soho Photo in lower Manhattan. She showed the owner my work and he was so impressed that he let me show four of my black and white pieces in a gallery showing in the spring of 2002. I was the youngest of all the gallery members to show their work that night. I displayed a nature shot, a portrait of a girl, a skyline shot, and an urban shot.

During my four years of photography lessons I learned to work with all different types of cameras and equipment. I learned how to use point and shoot cameras, SLR and DSLR cameras, pinhole cameras, single- lens cameras, digital cameras and a twin-lens reflex camera.
