Equality is more than just the right to of women and men in the eyes of Greg Mortonson, and his daughter Amira. Three Cups of Tea video link describes not just a feminist view on a culture that is not America’s own, but opportunity for those women in Afghanistan and Pakistan with the willingness to be taught. This video will describe the struggles women must go through to make it to school in the morning, but it is well worth it to them. Greg has a perspective not like many, he will describe his action with valor and say, “if you educate a girl she grows up and becomes a mother and the value of education goes on in the community and educating girls I think should be one of the top goals or priorities” (G. Mortonson; Three Cups of Tea).

Three Cups of Tea is a book written by Greg Mortenson. Greg is an adventurer and a humanitarian who for the past 15 years “has made it his mission to promote peace through education and literacy” (University of Phoenix, 2011). In the video Greg quotes an African proverb, educating a boy means educating an individual but educating a girl is educating a community. He believes that educated women in turn raise educated children and this leads to educated communities. He sees the value in education, helping to reduce infant mortality rates, population explosion, and increases the quality of lives. Greg promotes the strength and education of women who in turn are creating stronger communities.

“The feminist view sees inequity in gender as central to all behavior and organization” (Schaefer, 2011). In essence, the feminist perspective refers to the female point of view. It expresses what it is like as a woman when examining different perspectives, including the oppression of women and other women’s issues.
