To or Not to Mandate School Uniforms?

Our children are our future and schools are failing to educate them properly. Schools are now dealing with extraordinary issues from drugs and guns. It is a fact that change is a part of life. We may not always like it but we must accept it. Where once a dress code was enough students and parents have stretched these to the limits and it now has become as in society the haves and has not. We are faced with the reality that what once was the answer to a problem no longer is we must look for a better more fitted solution. It is clear that our schools are in dire need of change. By mandating school uniforms I strongly believe it would have strong socio-economic and academic benefits. Both our society and economy would stand to benefit now and in the future.

Bullying has become an everyday occurrence and unwanted influence in our schools. A uniform dress code would lessen this. Bullying often starts with the littlest of differences between children where the stronger take advantage and issue with the weaker. A school uniform would bring what the word states uniformity between all children and thus one less difference for bullies to act upon.

Uniforms would also lend itself as a benefit in the classroom. Children who would spend time discussing the latest fashions and styles in the class would now be able to turn their attention to the teacher and lessons on hand. Wearing uniforms would also be a lesson in itself, teaching students self-control, discipline and structure. Attributes that they will continue to use and apply threw out their lives and would be an asset to any job.

In sports in its purest from we have a great example of the uniform. A uniform inspires a collective group being and acting as one for the betterment of the whole. School uniforms would inspire this same sense of one of being part of the team and helping each other strive to succeed.
