Subject: Management behavior
This memo is intended to highlight the area to all future and current managers how a manager’s behavior can have impact on the productivity of his or her workers. The following information will give insight on addressing management behaviors that are lawful and in line with some of the most current employment laws. This memo will also help to cope with working within a diverse work environment.
As shift managers, behavior can impact worker’s productivity one because of the close and personal interactions that managers have on employees. Shift managers have the responsibility of remaining fair and unbiased as it pertains to office issues and affairs. If a manager establish a good working relationship with their employees, it becomes easier to notice irregular behaviors. It also assists employees with feeling more comfortable expressing their feelings and concerns regarding the work place. Knowing your employees and their character can help maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Possessing a good working relationship helps with retention. In previous years it has been found that compensating employees based on good performance on the job has effectively provided a more positive working morale between employees and managers. A prime example would be an issue between two patrol officers. As shift manager, it is your duty to express fairness towards both parties. In doing so, you should not express any personal opinions until both parties have explained the situation and you have thoroughly reviewed the issue. By listening to both sides of the stories, analyzing the facts, and identifying solutions to resolve the issue quickly, employees will have a more confident attitude towards the organization and continue working for the company.
