Personal objectives

* Personal objectives for residential

Before the residential, I have two objectives. First personal objective is to understand the importance of each role which has been mentioned in the Belbin and find my roles in a good team. The second is to practice my communication skills with people who come from different culture.

Initially, it is easy to see that nine different roles have been mentioned in Belbin. But before the residential, I don’t think a team needs too many different roles. In my opinion, the leader and the team workers are more important other team members. But through the residential, I saw how the team works together. At the beginning of the residential, the jobs of our team have not been completed perfectly, as we did do well in dividing the work. But it was improved little by little since we started to become a real team. It made have a deep impress and understanding about the roles which has been mentioned in Belbin.

From the test of Belbin, the result shows my personal roles in a team should be a Completer. But through the residential, I found that in reality, my role in a team should be a team worker. As a second language speaker, I did not know how to total impress my opinion in most of time. Thus, my construction to the team is mainly to finish the job which has been given by the leaders. Maybe in the future, my role in the team could changes as some of my skills improve. Therefore, I think I have achieved this objective in the residential.

As I have mentioned in the first objective, it is very hard to communicate with other people who come from different culture by using English as a second language speaker. The residential is the first time that I can stay with foreigners for such a long time. So, it is an infrequent opportunity for me to practice my communication skills. In the three days residential, I have tried my best to communicate with my group members. At first, I was so nervous when I speak to...
