Employee Motivation

Introduction

Did you know how important it is for businesses to encourage employee motivation? Motivation has a very strong and positive effect on a person’s job performance. Plus, or those affected by higher levels of motivation tend to have higher levels of task performance, which are strongest for goal difficulty, competence, and equity. The question is, “how does motivation affect job performance? Those with a strong motivation force tend to be strong with performing self-efficacy and competency. Basically, workers that have a feel or sense of self-confidence tend to outperform those who don’t.

Specific Goals

The second strongest part of powerful motivating is from the most difficult types of goals. Whenever a person receives these types of goals it makes them more progressive over those of goals that are too easy. Plus, the higher the levels of valence the more powerful motivation in organizational behavior variable for task performance (Lister, 2003). However, perceptions of equity are considered to have a weaker effect on task performance. Some workers whom engage in more work related efforts are more likely to perform the extra mile of actions. With this in mind, those employees that feel a sense of equity are most likely to engage in particular behaviors that help to aid the organization.

Motivation and Organizational Behavior

Whenever an employee’s perception of his work position is changed; this is considered to be an effective way to help improve organizational behavior (Brachmann, 2007). The social perception of other people views can also affect behavior in an organization. For example, the mistaking of another person’s behavior could result into a negative event, which later could cause problems with organization behavior in the work place.
