Colt is a name that has been around that most can understand when speaking of firearms. The post-Civil War quote “Abe Lincoln may have freed all men, but Sam Colt made them equal” (Colt, 2014) is what has become known to many citizens then and now. “Colt has newly introduced the new Colt Tactical carbines/rifles which are designed to provide civilian tactical shooters with carbine and rifle packages that they can take right from the box, mount a combat optic on it, and go right out and train/shoot in the most arduous tactical training courses and events with maximum reliability and modularity” (Crane, 2010). However the newest division of Colt is the Safety First division. The division will focus on training the retailers specifically with a number of courses that enhance their knowledge and expertise of all weapons and ammunition that will be sold. This will ensure that every retailer will be certified to sell everything that is included in their inventory, and certifying every customer that purchases their weapons.

This division will address customer needs by ensuring that they are getting the best advice from a safety standpoint, and put some ease to the a percentage of the population that feel that these weapons are not for everyone. The customer will be allowed to be certified from the retailer if seen fit, and pass all background checks for purchase. Once this is completed the customer will be afforded a certificate that will be dated and documented for both the retailer and customer. This will also give a 5% discount on any future purchases of Colt weapons that may be purchased. The competitive advantage is brought upon not only by the public, but many from the government that see Colt pushing for more restrictions and more of a procedure that will limit the amount of illegal sales and weapons in the hands of those that lack the knowledge or credentials to carry them.
