Organizing Function of Management Paper: Best Buy

One of the most important aspects to any organization in the traditional business world is organizing. The organizing function of management, by definition, addresses the manner in which people within the organization will interact with. This function lays the foundation of who will report to who by creating a chart that outlines these relationships. In addition, the organizing function of management aligns the different levels of people and their available resources to reach a common organizational goal. The purposes of organizing include determining tasks to achieve objectives, specifying reporting and authority relationships, and allocating and deploying resources while coordinating and combining tasks from multiple departments within. Specifically, this paper will address two interrelated resources, knowledge and technology, that play an extensive role in the organizing function of management at Best Buy. Additionally, this paper will explain how the optimization of these resources aids the company in achieving organizational goals efficiently and effectively.

Knowledge, in general, is the forefront of Best Buy’s resources that ultimately coincides with their mission, to provide customers with the correct knowledge on the quality products and services it provides to consumers at a competitive price. As the saying goes, knowledge is power, and Best Buy realizes this concept through the integration and training of their employees on the products and services it provides to customers. It is through this that Best Buy can increase its value to the consumers. Not only does this knowledge help the employee do his or her job better, but also helps the consumer process product information easier so that they can make a better informed purchase or decision.
