Subject: Proposal to study the feasibility to legalize Marijuana for medicinal Purposes in the state of Florida.

Marijuana is a drug that comes from the plant known as cannabis sativa. This drug is mind altering and can have many effects on the body. The main ingredient in marijuana is THC, thus the more THC the more powerful the drug is. This drug can have many uses, especially when it comes to medicinal purposes. For example if a person has cancer and is experiencing pain, the pain can be relieved by taking this medicine.

I plan to research the feasibility of allowing marijuana legalized in Florida due to the actions and benefits of the drug.

Problem

Marijuana is illegal in the state of Florida which in turn means that this drug cannot be used for medicinal purposes. People will turn to other prescriptions and a lot of other pain medications in order to eliminate pain. This drug is virtually harmless, and is already legal in California and Rhode island for medicinal purposes. The only problem is there is still a stigma with this drug from people of other generations of the past. In the end if marijuana was legal it would be a great drug to prescribe to people who need it due to pain and other purposes.

This drug is already widely used as at least 16 million people smoke it annually and not to mention illegally. Out of the 16 million people who smoke it I am sure there are a lot who use it to relax after a hard days work because they need a reliever. People will go to work, get extremely stressed out and may need something to calm them down. Something to relieve them of their stresses and will turn to marijuana to help ease them. This comes with a lot of risk as transportation of the drug is obviously illegal, and if this were to go on a persons record it could ruin their career as all they were trying to do was something completely harmless. Thus the problem of marijuana being illegal, it should be allowed...
