Chapter 1
Introduction.
All over the world many small clinics, health care facilities and hospitals are using the manual system of patient registration and record storage, physical consultation and this involves use of simple paper file to record patient visits, prescriptions and test results which are then stored in ordinary book shelves and this has been due to lack of technological investments and ICT knowledge.
In Uganda many small scale clinics, hospitals (governmental and nongovernmental) and privately own health care organizations (N.G.O) still use the manual and physical health care system and among this also includes Lisa medical center which is currently also using a manual and physical health care system which system does not ensure data security and integrity due to the way information is recorded or input and stored.
Background.
Problem statement.
The physical health care and pharmaceutical system used at Lisa medical center has brought about data insecurity, no integrity and data un independence of patient, medical officers and official record files and information.
This has greatly affected patients in a way that private and medical records can be lost or misplaced or even accessed by authorized personnel.
There are patients who face a problem of traveling to Lisa medical center each time for health care services and consultancy hence spending a lot on fuel and transport fares due to the increasing fuel prices.
