Communication

What is communication?

Communication is a process in which information is exchanged between two or more individuals through symbols, signs or behavior. To ensure that communication is effective however, all parties envolved must make sure that information is received in the way in which it was intended. Means of effective communication are implemented on a daily basis. Individuals may communicate verbally, through emails, text messages, ect. Or in non-verbal ways such as through body language. The two types of communication are verbal and non-verbal. Non-verbal communications are messages that are showed without the use of words. Verbal communications are those that are sent with the use of words. An example of both non-verbal and verbal communication is when you tell your spouse “I love you” (verbal) and then you give them a kiss (non-verbal). Other examples of non-verbal communications are gestures, eye contact, and facial expressions.

Effective communication takes a lot of thought.

Listening Helps!

Listening is an extremely but valuable method for learning how to communicate better with others. It is an essential step in communicating effectively. Being a great listener is a great way to show someone that you are interested in what they are a great communicator. If there is one person trying to relay information, the other party involved has to at least be a little receptive to what is being expressed by the person that is talking. This does not mean that you have to agree with what is being said, but rather try to understand the person that is speaking point of view. When communication is taking place amongst two or more people it is important that each person involved listens to one another so they fully understand what the other party is trying to communicate.
