SWOT analysis of Project Management Certificate Program of Centennial College’s School of Business

A SWOT analysis is a tool used to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of a business or an organization with the aim of planning and developing strategies to meet the goals of the organization. It helps the organizations to maximize their strengths and the opportunities by giving insight on what to adjust so as to have a competitive advantage over the competitors.

To perform a SWOT analysis on any business, it is important to first decide and underscore the objective of the analysis. The objective is the question which the analysis intends to answer about the business. Secondly, thorough research should be carried out on the market or the industry of interest. In this case, research is carried out on the different colleges that offer Project Management program, how, when and why they do it, and the differences between them. Third, all the strengths, weaknesses, potential opportunities and the potential threats of the organization/company in question are identified and listed. These must be related to the objective of the analysis; in this case, the strengths are what give Centennial College an advantage over the others while the weaknesses are those that put the college at a disadvantage when compared to the others in as far as Project Management certificate program is concerned. Opportunities are the things that Centennial has the ability to do so as to provide better program than the others while threats are those that could affect the smooth running of the programs or may disadvantage Centennial College making it less preferred when compared to the others. After listing all the possible strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, the priorities are established from the list and finally, a strategy to address the identified issues is suggested.
