PERSONALIZED NUTRITION AND EXERCISE PLAN My health and nutrition problem that I will target is diabetes. My family has a history of diabetes. My mother is, her brother was, my grandmother was, my aunt and a lot of cousins are. Everyone in my family has type II, the one that is non-insulin. This is where the body’s failure to respond to insulin in the normal way that leads to the over production of insulin. Diabetes can lead to blindness, kidney failure, amputation, infections, heart disease, and stroke. An increase can occur when we experience major changes in diet, when we reduce our physical activity, and be overweight. Some specific measures I can take to reduce this risk are to avoid weight gain, keep my body mass in the range of 21-23, and ensure a low saturated fat intake. Now I will look at four nutritional of physical goals. One of my nutritional goals are to achieve andmaintain at least a 5 to 10 percent weight loss. I will limit foods high in sugar. These can automaticallyincrease your blood glucose levels. These foods include: cake, cookies, candy, pie, pastries, ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbert, pudding, jam, jelly, donuts, sweet rolls, sweet muffins, flavor gelatin, and sweetened can foods. Also avoid soft drinks, but diet soda is o.k. I will include carbohydrates foods in moderation. The main sources of carbohydrates in the dietare starch, fruit, and milk. Although these foods do not contain refine sugar, they still have adrastic effect on the blood sugar. Some examples are: bread, pasts, rice, tortillas, cereal, crackers, and starchy vegetables., such as potatoes, corn, beans, and peas. Most of the other vegetablesare non-starchy and have only a minimal effect on blood sugar. I will time my meals. Meals should be eaten five hours apart. Meals and snacks should be eaten two or three hours apart. Meals and snacks should be consumed at consistent times, especially if you are taking insulinor certain diabetic medications to lower...
