Communication Channel Scenarios

The following paper will outline three different communication scenarios. Each scenario involves a different business issue that requires immediate attention. The scenarios included a marketing request, a company wide application loss, and the communication decisions of a company owner.

Scenario One

A marketing manager has been given the task of launching a new beverage globally. This product has done well since being introduced in football and basketball arenas in the United States. The Vice President of Operations has given the marketing manager and her team one week to develop and present a winning strategy to launch globally.

To complete this task the marketing manager will begin by holding a face to face meeting with her team. Because of the timing constraints a high channel of richness will be used as it transmits the most information per meeting (Robbins & Judge, 2011). To make sure that all members of the team are in attendance it may be necessary to have a video-conference line available. Once assignments have been distributed communication will be done both orally and written. When presenting the final results to the Vice President of Operations, this will also be done in a face to face manner. Accompanying the face to face meeting will be written communication so that the facts and research can be perused while holding the meeting.

The communication channels used were the best choice for the above scenario. Because of the expedience required meeting face to face would be the best way to get all the information distributed and understood.
