Strategic Plan, Part 1: Conceptualizing a Business

When developing a business, a strategic plan should be created to formulate and implement strategies to achieve a company’s goals and objectives. To begin, the company must formulate a vision and mission statement that includes broad statements about its purpose, philosophy, and goals (Pearce & Robinson, 2009). Part one of the strategic plan will define the guiding principles and values for Home Sweet Home Childcare. The strategic plan will also analyze how the vision, mission, and values guide Home Sweet Home Childcare’s strategic direction. To end part one of the strategic plan, there will be an evaluation of how Home Sweet Home Care will address customer needs and how it will achieve competitive advantage.

The mission of a company is the unique purpose that sets it apart from other companies of its type and identifies the scope of its operations (Pearce & Robinson, 2009). Home Sweet Home Childcare’s mission statement will describe the service that will be provided in a way that reflects the values and priorities of the company. The mission statement is, “Our mission at Home Sweet Home Child Care is to provide safe, affordable, high quality child care. We provide a loving environment where children feel safe and comfortable as if they were at home. Our goal is to offer a service that meets the social, moral, intellectual, emotional, and physical needs of each child.”

The target market is busy parents who go to work or school and need of child care services. Home Sweet Home Childcare is aware and understands that there are many working parents in need of childcare services. Parent’s number one priority is always their children.
